At the Section, we believe the future of reproductive health requires responsible policy-making to ensure access to a wide range of reproductive health care services.
By guiding our research priorities and making our findings accessible to those who shape policy, we advocate policies that reduce disparities and improve sexual and reproductive health. We develop interdisciplinary research informed by pressing policy issues and use social science methods and clinical knowledge to inform our policy recommendations.
We develop advocacy resources in the form of policy briefs and fact sheets. We also sponsor lectures and an annual conference that highlight the latest research, interventions and policy prescriptions for an audience of reproductive health advocates and policymakers, as well as clinicians and researchers. We are dedicated to developing strong relationships with community-based organizations, advocacy organizations and policymakers to promote a reproductive justice agenda – locally, nationally and internationally.
Briefs and articles cover topics such as health care reform, Medicaid policy, and parental involvment laws.
Lecture topics have included reproductive justice, teen pregnancy, religious conflicts in care, and sex education laws.
Conference subjects have covered health reform and reproductive justice, sex ed and digital media, the role of fathers in adolescent well-being.
